Already the sire of the Tropical Park Derby winner in King Congie earlier this new year, Badge of Silver made a major statement as a sire with a big future when his son Silver Medallion took the GIII El Camino Real Derby in good style this Saturday. Undefeated since being transferred to the Steve Asmussen barn, the Mike Ryan owned, $150,000 Keeneland sales graduate, has placed himself squarley on the Derby Watch List. Checked early and forced wide in the stretch, the Airdrie bred colt won off as much the best, easily handling the increased mile and an eighth distance.
