Congratlations to all the connections of the brilliant Silver Max, who once again demonstrated that he is the unquestioned leader of the 3-year-old turf division. His win in Saturday’s GII $600,000 Virginia Derby marked his 7th straight victory on the grass and his fifth consecutive stakes win on an amazing five different racetracks. Having answered the question emphatically that he can stay the classic distance, it’s no wonder that trainer Dale Romans mused after the race, “I don’t know what it would take for another horse to beat him.”
