American Freedom’s first crop of 2-year-olds continued to produce excellent results at Wednesday’s Fasig-Tipton Gulfstream sale when a filly by the Airdrie stallion brought a top bid of $550,000.
Consigned by Ciaran Dunne’s Wavertree Stables, hip No. 154 had breezed a furlong in a very quick 10 seconds flat during the Under Tack show. The winning bidder was Maddie Mattmiller, agent for Black Type R. A. Hill.
Out of the Brereton Jones’ top-class producer Listen to Libby, the chestnut filly is a half-sister to Chantelaine, a graded stakes winner of nearly $600,000, and multiple stakes winner Kell Paso. This is also the family of Grade 1 winner Currency Swap.
After the first two juvenile sales of the year, American Freedom’s average sale price of $184,571 is more than 30 times his advertised 2021 stud fee.
