Cairo Prince had another fantastic day as the Keeneland September Yearling sale wrapped up the first week of the prestigious auction on Sunday, led by a $400,000 filly and a total of four lots selling for at least $200,000.
Thorough the first six sessions, Cairo Prince’s $900,000 colt was the top price paid for any lot by a first-crop sire. His average of $198,414 also led all freshman sires with more than 40 individuals sold.
Sunday’s $400,000 filly, hip No. 1680, was consigned by Airdrie and went to Cheyenne Stables. The filly’s dam Incarnate Memories is a sister to Grade 2 winner Hello Liberty and stakes winner Pious Ashley.
Cairo Prince’s top colt on Sunday was hip No. 1633, consigned by Ashview Farm. The winning bidder, at $320,000, was Centennial Farms. The colt’s dam, Feline Flatline, is the dam of Flat Out’s first winner and is a half-sister to Del Mar Oaks (G1) winner Sharla Rae.
Cairo Prince has 15 individuals in the remainder of the sale, which runs through Sept. 23.
