Collected, whose first crop are yearlings of 2021, had the session topper Tuesday at the Keeneland September Yearling sale with a $320,000 filly bred and consigned by Dave Anderson’s Anderson Farms, agent.
The winning buyer for hip No. 2622 were Peter Fluor and K.C. Weiner’s Speedway Stables, who campaigned Collected when he won the Pacific Classic (G1), where he defeated Arrogate and Acclerate.
“We were thrilled to get her,” Marrett Farrell, who did the bidding on behalf of Speedway, said. “I thought she was an absolute princess and an amazing mover. Peter Fluor and K.C. Weiner wanted me to go out and find what I thought–and I hope I’m right–was the best Collected. And this is the one that I picked.”
The Ontario-bred yearling is out of the unraced Bezzera, who is a full-sister to Canadian Horse of the Year Wonder Gadot and a half-sister to Grade One winner Hard Not To Love.
“We really do believe in Collected,” Farrell continued. “We looked at every single one of them on the grounds. And I am excited about what he may do next year. He was a Grade One winner on the dirt, but he’s from the Blushing Groom family that was all grass. Every one that I’ve seen is so powerful. They are all really beautiful movers. And I really think they are going to come out running as 2-year-olds next year.”
Through eight sessions of the sale that ends Friday, 35 yearlings by Collected have sold for $3,852,000, an average of $110,057.
