A colt from the first crop of multiple graded stakes winner winner Cairo Prince brought a winning bid of $225,000 during the first evening of the Aug. 12-13 Fasig-Tipton New York-bred Preferred Yearlings sale at Saratoga.
J. J. Crupi, agent was the winning bidder for hip No. 329, who was consigned by Denali Stud, agent. The dark bay colt is out of Krakowviak, who has already produced the stakes-placed winner Hidden Vow and Morning Calm. Krakowviak is a half-sister to graded stakes winner Antoinette, the dam of multiple Grade 1 winner Switch.
Cairo Prince, whose first foals are yearlings of 2017, was bred to 148 mares his first year at stud, making him one of the most popular sires of his generation. A son of Pioneerof the Nile, he stood the 2017 season at Airdrie Stud for $15,000 live foal.
