| SARATOGA CITIZENS: THE BRILLIANT TRICKMEISTER AND TRACK-RECORD-SETTER FIDDLER'S PATRIOT GIVE PROUD CITIZEN A MONSTER WEEKEND AT THE SPA |
|
| |
|
The undefeated, and wholly untested, Trickmeiseter put on another brilliant display Friday with a truly authoritative 10 length win in Saratoga's Pleasant Colony Stakes. Bringing his record to a perfect 4 for 4, Trickmeister cemented his name atop the list of the nation's most exciting 3-year-old colts and continues to give every indication that he is a true star in the making. Early indications are that he will put his undefeated record to the GII $1 million Pennsylvania Derby for his next start.
However, Trickmeister was not Proud Citizen's only breakthrough performer at Saratoga, as his talented son Fiddler's Patriot, remarkably making his first grass start, set a new Saratoga stakes record on Monday in his facile, 5-length allowance romp, running 5 1/2 furlongs in a remarkable 1:00 2/5...yet another Proud Citizen with a very bright future indeed.

| MAJOR MO-MENTUM: INDIAN CHARLIE'S 2-YEAR-OLD UNCLE MO MAKES A BRILLIANT DEBUT ON SARATOGA'S BIGGEST DAY |
|
| |
|
Saratoga Racourse $54,000 Msw 6F
Travers Day at Saratoga has long been a day where many of racing's best and brightest come together to showcase their abilities. This year's Travers day was no exception, but unlike in most years, it may have been a debuting 2-year-old that left the greatest impression on the Sartoga faithful. Todd Pletcher's 2-year-old Indian Charlie colt Uncle Mo had been one of the backstretch's worst kept secrets leading up to his debut, and left the starting gate in a salty Saratoga Maiden Special Weight as the prohibitive 4-5 favorite. However, that price quickly revealed itself a bargain when Uncle Mo streaked home a 14 length winner, stopping the clock in a sensational 1:09 2/5 for the 6 furlongs, a time that would prove faster than the G3 Victory Ride Stakes on the same card at the same distance, and would earn Uncle Moe a 102 Beyer Speed Figure- an unbelievable 9 Beyer points higher than Discreetly Mine earned for his impressive G1 King's Bishop score the same day. An obviously impressed Todd Pletcher stated that Uncle Mo would make his next start in the GI Champagne Stakes at Belmont Park.
A product of his best book of mares to hit the track to date, Uncle Mo joins Indian Charlie's undefeated stakes winner Roxy Gap as two of the most exciting 2-year-olds in the country and offers a preview of the big years ahead for Indian Charlie- whose truly best books at stud have yet to hit the racetrack. | SPREAD THE WORD: CANADIAN FRONTIER'S NO SUCH WORD TAKES THE GIII MONMOUTH OAKS! |
|
| |
|
GIII $200,000 Monmouth Oaks Monmouth Park 1 1/16
Having taken on many of her divisions toughest fillies, including a game victory over the talented Havre de Grace, Canadian Frontier's graded-stakes-winning 3yo No Such Word reminded the racing world she belongs in the conversation of the nation's top 3-year-old fillies with an impressive win in the GIII Monmouth Oaks. Bet down to 6-5 by the betting public, the Cindy Jones trainee erased all doubts of the race's outcome with an authoratative move around the turn and was never fully pressed as she crossed the wire a length and a half in front of graded stakes winner Seeking The Title.
From Canadian Frontier's second crop, No Such Word demonstrates the quality her sire can produce despite being limited with smaller book sizes over the years- To date, he is the sire of nearly 9% stakes winners to runners. |

| PURE PERFECTION: HARLAN'S HOLIDAY'S MAJESTICPERFECTION DESTROYS THE G1 VANDERBILT FIELD AT SARATOGA |
|
| |
|
GI $250,000 Alfred G. Vanderbilt Hcp. 6 Furlongs, Saratoga.
While the argument could have been made that Padua Stables' Majesticperfection was the nation's fastest sprinter exiting his last-out, track record setting performance at Prairie Meadows when earning the year's highest sprinting Beyer figure, the supremely talented son of Harlan's Holiday has seemingly eliminated all doubts in the wake of his devastating GI Vanderbilt score on Sunday. Though facing a group that included Grade 1 heroes Bribon (FR) and Gayego as well as the highly touted Big Drama, Majesticperfection was never challenged in a remarkable hand ridden, wire-to-wire score. His fifth win in a row, Majesticperfection stopped the clock in 1:08 3/5 for the six furlong fixture, just 3/5ths off the track record and good for an astounding 115 Beyer Speed Figure. Trained by Steve Asmussen, the 2010 Sprinter Eclipse award appears to be his to lose.
A $370,000 OBS sale horse, Majesticperfection is the perfect embodiment of Harlan's Holiday's ability to produce a big horse in both the sales ring and on the racetrack.
Congratulations and best to of luck to owner Padua Stables and breeders Ron McPeek and Shane Floyd! |

PROUD CITIZEN's 3YO *TDN RISING STAR* TRICKMEISTER remained undefeated with a convincing Wire-to-Wire score in the Barbaro Stakes at Delaware Park for trainer Cindy Jones... ... a win so impressive it was given a higher Beyer Speed Figure than the brilliant BLIND LUCK's Grade II Delaware Oaks win on the same day, at the same track, at the same distance!

|
| |
|
IOWA SPRINT HCP $125,000, 6 furlongs at Prairie Meadows.
Before making the trip to Iowa for his stakes debut MAJESTICPERFECTION earned TDN RISING STAR status with an easy four length romp in a Churchill Allowance on May 14th. Well worth the wait, this late blooming colt blasted through fractions of :21.2, :43.2 pressured by favored ATTA BOY ROY and CASH REFUND, then Jockey Shaun Bridgmohan shook him loose, finding yet another gear for the flight home to the wire. Setting a new track record for 6 furlongs in 1:07.1 without even being asked, this amazing colt earned a 117 Beyer.
Stay Tuned!
Lifetime: 5-4-0-1 $160,430.

| LIVING UP TO THE NAME: Harlan's Holiday's Majesticperfection earns the TDN Rising Star with a brilliant display at Churchill Downs |
|
| |
|
While the Thoroughbred Daily News could be accused of jumping on the bandwagon tabbing Majesticperfection a TDN Tising Star a race after he seeemed to have already earned that title, the TDN cannot be accused of bestowing that label on an undeserving colt. On April 1st, Majesticperfection first indicated his true talent with a facile romp at Oaklawn Park, stopping the clock in 1:08 and change and running an unbelievable 1 3/4 Ragozin # in just his third career start. Bet down to 2-5 in his Churchill Downs debut, the strapping bay unbelievably repeated both his 1:08 and change time and 1 3/4 Ragozin while winning off as much the best. With a slate of the nation's top races for older sprinters now in his future, Majesticperfection is a rising star indeed!
Congratulations to all the connections of this impressive colt! |

| GRADE 1 METROPOLITAN MILE WINNER DIVINE PARK RETIRED TO AIRDRIE STUD. |
|
| |
|
DIVINE PARK, track record holder and a triple graded stakes winner at a mile, including the 2008 Grade 1 Metropolitan Handicap, has been retired from racing and will take up stud duties at Mr. and Mrs. Brereton C. Jones’s Airdrie Stud for the 2009 season.
Racing in the colors of James J. Barry, for trainer Kiaran McLaughlin, Divine Park won his first three career starts, culminating with a win in the Grade 3 Withers Stakes, over a mile, stopping the clock in 1:34 2/5. At four, in 2008, Divine Park garnered national attention when taking the Grade 3 Westchester Stakes at Belmont by 5 lengths, running the mile event in 1:32.3, just 2/5 off the track record. Divine Park returned less than a month later to take the Grade 1 Metropolitan Mile Handicap at Belmont, defeating multiple Grade 1 winner Commentator by 2 lengths. Divine Park also established a track record over Keeneland’s polytrack when covering 7 furlongs in 1:21 flat.
A son of leading sire Chester House, himself the sire of a phenomenal 17 stakes winners in 2008, and from the female family of the Blue Hen mare Honor an Offer, dam of Grade 1 winners Sardula and Imperial Gesture. Divine Park finishes his career with 6 wins in 9 starts and earnings over $607,000.
Brereton Jones said “Divine Park absolutely checks every box for a major stallion prospect. He’s a Grade 1 winner of one of the great stallion-making races, the Met Mile, he’s by a stallion who left us too early but who established himself as an elite sire both nationally and overseas. Plus he will be one of the best looking stallions in our barn, he’s gorgeous. Jim Barry and Kiaran McLaughlin are two of the truly good people in racing and we at Airdrie are very grateful for the opportunity to stand a horse with the great promise of Divine Park.”
DIVINE PARK WILL STAND FOR A FEE OF $17,500.

| MULTIPLE GRADED STAKES WINNER ISTAN TO STAND AT AIRDRIE IN 2008 |
|
| |
|
ISTAN, an emphatic 8 3/4 length winner of Saturday's Grade III Ack Ack Stakes at Churchill Downs has been sold to Mr. And Mrs. Brereton C. Jones, owners of Airdrie Stud. A multiple graded stakes winning son of Gone West, Istan will remain in training with Bill Mott and could be pointed to the Grade I Cigar Mile before retiring to stud duty for 2008.
Out of the multiple Group stakes winning Bluebird mare Ronda, Istan hails from the immediate female family of the legendary champion and leading sire Mill Reef. Airdrie Stud's Bret Jones said "We couldn't be more excited about Istan. His last race showed the true brilliance that we look for in a stallion prospect, and his 111 Beyer and 0 Ragozin Sheet numbers showed it was every bit as impressive as it appeared visually. He is the right physical package as well, a good size, very well balanced and correct with a very attractive head and eye. He's a graded stakes winner on both dirt and polytrack, and being by Gone West from Mill Reef's family, there really is no ceiling on what this horse can accomplish."
Raced in the colors of Darpat S.L. Stables, Istan broke his maiden in his first start at two in France before being transferred to Bill Mott's barn on his American arrival. A winner of 9 of 20 lifetime starts, Istan currently has earnings of $434,863.
A stud fee for Istan has not been set yet.

| GRADE 1 WINNER FLASHY BULL RETIRES TO STUD AT AIRDRIE. |
|
| |
|
Top older horse FLASHY BULL, winner of this year's Grade 1 $750,000 Stephen Foster Handicap, has been retired to Brereton and Elizabeth Jones's Airdrie Stud. A winner of four consecutive races in 2007, culminating with his win in the Grade 1 Stephen Foster, Flashy Bull was rated one of the top older horses in training before being retired. Second to Grade 1 winner Bluegrass Cat in the Grade 2 Remsen Stakes as a two-year-old and besting Grade 1 winners Corinthian and Jazil in the Grade 2 Fountain of Youth at three, Flashy Bull took his place as a top handicap horse with his win in the Stephen Foster at four.
Bret Jones of Airdrie said Flashy Bull reminds him of another young Airdrie stallion, "I think you can draw a lot of similarities to Include, in that both are absolute physical standouts and both are total outcrosses for all the Mr. Prospector line mares. While Flashy Bull was far more precocious than Include, both really took off as they matured and stretched out and I think both will be at their best siring horses that can go after the big money around two turns. We are very, very excited to be putting Flashy Bull in the barn, and very grateful to Terry Finley and his West Point partners for giving us the opportunity."
By Champion Holy Bull out of the multiple stakes producing mare Iridescence, Flashy Bull hails from the same female family as champion grass horse and young Kentucky sire Perfect Soul. A $205,000 sales horse, Flashy Bull retires with earnings of $844,313 racing for owners West Point Thoroughbreds and trainer Kieran McLaughlin.
Flashy Bull will stand for a stud fee of $10,000.

| CHAMPION STEVIE WONDERBOY TO AIRDRIE |
|
| |
|
|
Juvenile Champion and former Kentucky Derby Future Book favorite STEVIE WONDERBOY has been retired from racing and will enter stud at Brereton and Elizabeth Jones's Airdrie Stud in Midway, Kentucky.
Racing in the silks of entertainment legend Merv Griffin and campaigned by trainer Doug O'Neill, Stevie Wonderboy took the 2005 Eclipse Award for Champion Two-Year-Old colt following his 2005 Breeders' Cup Juvenile success at Belmont Park, when defeating fellow Eclipse finalists Henny Hughes and First Samurai. Stevie Wonderboy's Breeders' Cup victory came on the heels of a 5 length triumph in the G2 Del Mar Futurity. By A.P. Indy's Grade 1 winning son Stephen Got Even, Stevie Wonderboy is out of the Summer Squall mare Heat Lightning, representing a 3x3 inbreeding to Weekend Surprise, the Champion dam of A.P. Indy and Summer Squall.
Bret Jones of Airdrie said "We couldn't be more excited to be bringing Stevie Wonderboy into the stallion barn. He did exactly what a champion is supposed to do, beat the best on both sides of the country. I really believe the juvenile field he beat, with Henny Hughes and First Samurai was as strong as any in recent memory, and he was really getting away from them at the end. It's just a shame we never got to see him in the classics, because as brilliant as he was at two, he was absolutely tailor made for the Triple Crown trail. We've had a wonderful relationship with Mr. Griffin for a long time, and we feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to stand his champion."
A stud fee for Stevie Wonderboy has not yet been set. |

| Millionaire and Multiple Graded Stakes Winner BADGE OF SILVER arrives at Airdrie. |
|
| |
|
Multiple Graded Stakes winner BADGE OF SILVER joins the stallion roster at Airdrie Stud. Most recently Millionaire BADGE OF SILVER ran 2nd, on Thanksgiving weekend, to DISCREET CAT in the fastest ever Hill 'n' Dale Cigar Mile - 1:32.2! Discreet Cat eclipsed the previous stakes record and trainer Saeed bin Suroor said "This is the best race he has ever run in his life."
Racing in the colors of Ken and Sarah Ramsey throughout his career, the son of SILVER DEPUTY first burst onto the national racing scene when winning his first three starts by a combined 26 lengths, highlighted by a 10 length triumph in the G3 Risen Star Stakes. As an early favorite for the Kentucky Derby, BADGE OF SILVER suffered an untimely injury as the 4-5 favorite in the Louisiana Derby and was forced to miss the rest of his sophomore campaign. After re-emergence from injury, BADGE OF SILVER went on to capture three more graded stakes including the $500,000 G2 New Orleans Hcp as well as a 2nd place finish in the G1 Cigar Mile defeating PICO CENTRAL. BADGE OF SILVER finished a strong third in the G1 $2,000,000 Breeder's Cup Mile, his first start in more than a 10 month layoff during 2006.
With a current record of 7 wins from 16 starts and earnings of $1,047,892 BADGE OF SILVER arrives at Airdrie on Monday, November 27th for breeder inspections.
Bret Jones said "We couldn't be more excited, Badge of Silver has the prospect to be a top stallion. He was a brilliant racehorse, fast and precocious enough to break his maiden by 9 lengths as an April 2YO at Keeneland going 4 1/2 furlongs in :51 and change but was also versatile enough to beat the best going a mile and an eighth. And his recent display of such gritty determination to run within a head of Aragorn in the Breeders' Cup Mile after a 10 month layoff speaks volumes. Now add to that a very good looking well balanced and correct horse and we believe he has the makings of a top commercial and, most importantly, top producing sire."
BADGE OF SILVER will stand for a fee of $15,000.

| GRADED STAKES WINNER CANADIAN FRONTIER RETIRES TO AIRDRIE! |
|
| |
|
|
CANADIAN FRONTIER, a brilliantly fast son of GONE WEST enters stud at Airdrie in 2005 for a fee of $10,000 live foal guarantee.
Airdrie Stud announced today the purchase of triple stakes winner CANADIAN FRONTIER by Sire of Sires GONE WEST out of the multiple graded stakes winner BORODISLEW by SEATTLE SLEW.
Farm owner Brereton Jones said "I could not be more excited about having another brilliantly fast son of Gone West. Add to his brilliance the fact that his multiple graded dam is by Seattle Slew and that his first three dams are all Graded/Group stakes winners and I believe his chance for sire success is exceptionally strong."
A $325,000 Keeneland September yearling purchase by John Ferguson for Godolphin, Canadian Frontier made six trips between the United States and United Arab Emirates from 2000 to 2003 after which he entered stakes competition and showed the brilliance anticipated. He annihilated a good field in the Bold Ruler Hcp G3 going 6 furlongs in 1:08 4/5. He won the $100,000 Teddy Drone Stakes in 1:09 and the Longfellow Stakes in 1:08 4/5. He won 6 of 13 starts and earned $253,239. |
