FAST FACTS:

As a 2YO, 3YO and Older Horse, from Sprint distances to Routes, on Dirt and on Turf, BADGE OF SILVER's races were marked by one constant: BRILLIANCE.
  • He broke his maiden as an April 2YO at Keeneland by 9 lengths, going 4 ½ furlongs in :51 and change.
  • He won his first three races by a combined 26 lengths including a 10 length romp in the G3 Risen Star Stakes and becoming an early Derby Favorite. Following the Risen Star, Steve Haskin of the Blood-Horse wrote:
"If there is the proverbial Freak, this is the one...to say he's been brilliant would be a gross understatement."
  • He recorded 9 Beyer Speed Figures of 107 or better from 6 furlongs (113) to 1 1/8 miles (111). Ran a 0 Ragozin Sheet Number, lowest ever for a son or daughter of Silver Deputy.
  • On Turf – in his first start on the grass BADGE OF SILVER won the G2 San Gabriel on Jan 1st 2006, then, after a 10 month layoff he ran an incredible 3rd in the G1 Breeders' Cup Mile.
  • On Dirt – He defeated the brilliant COMMENTATOR and G1 winner PURGE in winning Multiple Graded Stakes, including a victory over standouts LIMEHOUSE, POLLARDS VISION and WANDERING BOY in the G2 $500,000 New Orleans Hcp. In his final career start BADGE OF SILVER ran 2nd to the incomparable DISCREET CAT in the G1 Cigar Mile, defeating Breeder's Cup and Met Mile champion SILVER TRAIN. His time – 1:33 – was the third fastest mile in Aqueduct history.
